- Tea is probably the oldest drink, other than water, in the world – OK, maybe beer came earlier (seriously!).
- Over 3 billion cups of tea a day are consumed, globally, versus 2.2 billion cups of coffee a day – sorry, coffee.
- Teabags were invented in 1904 by New York tea merchant Thomas Sullivan, and really took off in the U.S. in the 1920’s - The Brits didn’t adopt tea bags (favoring loose tea in tea-pots), until the 1980’s and 1990’s
- Green teas and Black teas are made from the same plant – an evergreen shrub (Camellia Sinensis) – it’s how the leaves are processed that makes the different end product.
- Both kinds are GREAT FOR YOU!
